- My first race was in August of 1988. It was called "Racing in Racine". I've been hooked on triathlons ever since. I met my wife and some of my closest friends in this sport. It is the one thing in this world that I do which I have complete control over the outcome. I only have to answer to myself. Being injured and not able to race for 2.5 years was one of the toughest things I've ever had to go through.
